Must be an Indian national or foreign national as per rules.
Should have completed or be in the 3rd or higher year of their undergraduate degree (Engineering, Science, Arts, Architecture, etc).
There is no age limit.

- Upload a clear and recent color passport-size photo with a plain white background.
- The face should occupy 60–70% of the photo area.
- The face must be clearly visible without caps, scarves, sunglasses, or tinted glasses (except for religious reasons).
- Accepted format: JPG/JPEG with a resolution between 200×260 pixels to 530×690 pixels.
- Dimensions: 3.5 cm (width) × 4.5 cm (height).
- File size: Minimum 5 KB – Maximum 1 MB.
✍️ Signature Guidelines:
- The signature must be done in black or dark blue ink on white paper, covering at least 70–80% of the image area.
- File format: JPG/JPEG.
- Resolution should be between 250×80 pixels to 580×180 pixels.
- Size of the image: Minimum 3 KB – Maximum 1 MB.
- The signature box dimensions should be between 1 cm × 2.75 cm to 3.75 cm × 1 cm.
- The uploaded signature must match the one done during the examination; otherwise, the candidate will be disqualified.
📑 Educational & ID Documents:
- Educational certificates must be uploaded in PDF format, file size between 10 KB and 300 KB.
- Valid ID proof: Aadhaar Card/UID, Virtual Aadhaar ID, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving License.
- The ID must clearly display name, photograph, date of birth, and ID number.
- Candidates belonging to reserved categories must also upload a valid and government-approved PwD or category certificate.

Organizing Institute – GATE 2025 was conducted by IIT Roorkee, while GATE 2026 is being organized by IIT Guwahati.
Application Dates – GATE 2025 registrations began on 30 August 2024, while GATE 2026 starts earlier, on 28 August 2025.
Subjects/Papers – GATE 2026 continues with 30 subjects (no new papers introduced yet).
Exam Dates – For GATE 2025, exams were in February 2025; GATE 2026 exams are scheduled on 7, 8, 14 & 15 February 2026.
Application Fee – Expected to remain the same (General/OBC: ~₹2000; SC/ST/PwD/Female: ~₹1000), but candidates should verify once official notice releases.
