Exam Pattern – JPSC Civil Services Pre Recruitment 2026

Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination is conducted in two successive stages: Preliminary Examination and Main Examination (Written Examination and Interview).

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination

  • Preliminary Examination consists of two compulsory papers
  • Each paper is of 200 marks
  • Both papers are objective type (MCQs)
  • Duration of each paper is 2 hours
  • Question papers are available in Hindi and English
  • Papers included:
    • General Studies – I
    • General Studies – II
  • Selection for the Main (Written) Examination is based on the combined marks of both papers
  • Candidates are shortlisted in the ratio of approximately 15 times the total advertised vacancies
  • Candidates scoring marks equal to the category-wise cut-off are also included for the Main Examination
  • Marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination are not counted in the final merit list

Stage 2: Main Examination

The Main Examination consists of Written Examination and Interview Test.

Written Examination
  • Written Examination consists of 6 papers
  • Selection for the Interview Test is based on:
    • Total marks obtained in Paper I to Paper V
    • Candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks as prescribed
  • Candidates are shortlisted for Interview in the ratio of approximately 2.5 times the total vacancies
Interview Test
  • Interview Test carries 100 marks
  • There is no minimum qualifying mark for the Interview
  • Candidates who secure qualifying marks in the Written Examination are called for the Interview
